Terrorism - A Clear & Present Danger (Networking Dinner)

Dear Sir/Mdm,

In 1972, Black September brought about modern terrorism. Since this genesis, our lives have never been the same. Just over the past few months, we have seen the most severe attack in Bangkok, a second attack in the streets of Paris, armed soldiers in Bali and IS-inspired shooting in California. So what can we do to help mitigate these threats in the face of economic stagnation?

Join our panel of practitioners for insights that may help illuminate the path towards keeping our people, our assets and our brands safe

Message from NTU-Nanyang Business School

Dear Executive:

NANYANG EXECUTIVE EDUCATION ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME 2015

Risk management is essential in all organisations and plays an integral role in organisations' decision-making and strategic planning. Effective risk management helps enterprises to gain greater insights into the risks and implications associated with critical business decisions, thereby maximising business performance.

As Enterprise Risk management (ERM) is still in its infancy in Singapore and even globally, there is much confusion what it is all about and entails. Much help is thus needed to move firms to higher ERM maturity level. A related issue within ERM, business continuity and crisis management, is a perennial challenge for businesses, increasingly so as we are now operating in a 24/7 and interconnected economy.  Recent incidences (disrupted supply chain, SGX, telco, SMRT train and major bank service disruptions) underlie the importance of business resilience and preparedness.

Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University offers the Enterprise Risk Management programme which addresses both ERM and business continuity issues. It is aligned to ISO 31000 (ERM) and ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management).

Our programme is facilitated by leading thought leaders and risk practitioners from diverse industries for participants to gain knowledge on the latest developments and application of essential risk management concepts and frameworks. Nanyang Business School’s Enterprise Risk Management programme is well attended by senior management, directors and managers, consultants, auditors and professionals interested or involved in risk management.

Our programme is also well aligned with SPRING’s vision and mission to help Singapore enterprises to grow in both quality and standards. As a result, trust is built in Singapore products and services. This will help propel and grow Singapore enterprises to become truly competitive global enterprises.

Our programme will be conducted from 28 September to 01 October 2015. This programme will lead to a Certificate of Achievement for Enterprise Risk Management.

We will be extending a one-time 40% discount for all alumni sign ups from now till 21 September 2015. For more information, please refer to the attached brochures or visit us at www.execed.ntu.edu.sg.  You may also email or call my colleague Amy at nep@ntu.edu.sg or 6592-3799. We look forward to your participation.

Warmest Regards,

Cary Chan

The risk exposures are dramatically increasing even in the liability space. There are greater challenges in the air though for the proactive insurers these bring new opportunities in helping their clients manage these risks. With the risks getting more complex, there is a greater need for simpler and clearer policy wordings as well as innovating products to cover never-before-seen exposures with no previous loss data.
